Laxey House Bird Rescue

"The grant we received from the Belforte Foundation has been truly transformative for Laxey House Bird Rescue. It enabled us to build safe, spacious enclosures that have greatly improved the care and rehabilitation of countless birds. This support has not only enhanced the wellbeing of the animals but also strengthened our ability to protect and nurture wildlife in our community."

Laxey House Bird Rescue

Laxey House Bird Rescue is a small wildlife rescue that specialises in the ethical rehabilitation and release of wild birds, helping hundreds of injured wild birds each year. They aim to end suffering through whatever treatment is necessary, by working with vets in their local area as well as the public, running free training and learning sessions to help people to get involved with caring for wildlife. These include the organisation of their ‘Stringfoot Group’ which catches injured pigeons and removes cotton, hair and string from the pigeon’s feet – an issue that causes thousands of pigeons foot pain, causing infection and the loss of their digits.

The Belforte Foundation provided a grant of £2500 for the installation of two large recovery aviaries, which so far has already helped gulls, ducks, goslings, and swans. It is anticipated that the enclosures will help over 100 birds to rehabilitate each year.
