Suffolk Prickles Hedgehog Rescue

"The grant helped us to set up and deliver a CPD course which will help to build strong and lasting relationships with local veterinary practices. This in turn will help us to save more hedgehogs!"

Suffolk Prickles Hedgehog Rescue

Suffolk Prickles Hedgehog Rescue is a small volunteer run charity, that has been helping hedgehogs since 2010. They provide a quality rescue, care and rehabilitation service for sick, injured, and orphaned hedgehogs, helping on average around 250 hedgehogs each year with the aim to always return to the wild.

The Belforte Foundation awarded Suffolk Prickles with a grant of £2000 for veterinary costs and to develop and deliver a hedgehog first aid CPD training course that could be run for local veterinary practices. In addition to half the money helping with the veterinary bills as planned, the CPD course has been developed and formally accredited. So far, training has been delivered to one veterinary practice with seven staff in attendance. Another booked training session had to be rescheduled due to illness but will take place shortly, and now the course is developed and accredited, the charity plans to roll this out to more veterinary practices, giving them confidence and skills to specifically help hedgehogs in need.
