The Moorland Mousie Trust

"Securing funding for essential pony welfare costs, such as veterinary care, farrier services, and medicines, is often challenging. We are incredibly grateful to The Belforte Foundation for their generous support with this - this funding is vital to ensuring our ponies receive the care they need. Their support helps us continue our mission to protect and improve the lives of these animals. Thank you so much”"

Linzi Green, Exmoor Pony Centre Manager

The Moorland Mousie Trust

The Moorland Mousie Trust helps the endangered Exmoor pony breed of which only around 3000 remain worldwide. They prevent unwanted foals from being destroyed, carry out healthchecks and treatments, rehome when appropriate and provide equine therapy to disadvantaged individuals.

The Belforte Foundation awarded the Moorland Mousie Trust a grant of £1000 and a repeat grant of £2000 towards veterinary costs. The grants helped with a variety of vet bills, microchipping and registration of ponies, and sedation for a pony from Cornwall that required dental treatment and also to help treat and recover a grazing pony with a hock (rear leg joint) injury.
The grants helped in a small part to take some strain from the charity in their increasing vet costs and allowed them to help additional ponies in need.
