The UK Wild Otter Trust is a Eurasian otter cub rehabilitation centre in North Devon, specialising in the welfare, rehabilitation, care and eventual release back into the wild of orphaned otter cubs that have often lost their mother. The charity is the largest specialist otter centre in the UK, that takes in otters from many wildlife rescue centres, vets and the RSPCA and advises on otter cub rehabilitation across Europe.
The Belforte Foundation awarded a grant of £6000 to fund the build of special housing to hold up to 10 otter cubs needing rehabilitation, a process that usually takes at least one year before re-release. The building also houses working spaces and storage areas as well as a feed store by way of freezer.
