Wildlife Bird Rescue Dorset cares for a wide range of garden birds each year that need their help. Averaging around 600 birds per year, the charity helps birds that are suffering from injuries, illness, abandonment as babies, or human-related harm. They provide expert medical care, nourishment, and rehabilitation in a safe environment, and once fully recovered, birds are released back into the wild. Additionally, Wildlife Bird Rescue Dorset works to help educate the public on protecting wild birds, offering guidance on wildlife emergencies, bird-friendly practices and conservation efforts. 

The Belforte Foundation awarded a grant of £2000 for the purchase on new veterinary style hygienic holding cages which are much better for management of cross infection, can be easily reconfigured and are much easier to clean and dry. Additionally they offer better conditions all round for the birds in care, reducing stress and aiding healing. Off the back of the grant from The Belforte Foundation, the charity was able to do additional fundraising, sharing the benefits of the new cages, and raise money for an additional 2 x double cages. It is estimated that the new cages will help over 500 birds on their path to recovery each year.
